The NIS2 directive (the most comprehensive European cybersecurity directive yet) has now become active. Amongst others, this directive contains stricter requirements for risk management and incident reporting, wider coverage of sectors, and more hard-hitting penalties for non-compliance.
For the utility sector, the NIS2 Directive has far-reaching implications as this sector provides essential services to the public and therefore is a prime target for cyberattacks.
As a result of this, utility companies running on SAP have been struggling with questions like:
- How do you collect, keep and analyze data safely?
- How do you register, report, and mitigate relevant risks and threats?
- Which solutions can help my organization to become safe and stay compliant?
SAP and Riscomp have elaborated on how utility and all other SAP customers can become NIS2 compliant by leveraging off-the-shelf solutions, best practices, and new innovations such as AI. The goal was to help establish a solid foundation—not only for essential and important entities affected by NIS2, such as utility companies, but also for other SAP customers, and in context of many other regulations with relevance for IT.
Participants learned how to connect all the dots, making cybersecurity and compliance a team sport that is enjoyable to play.
